Lost took the world by storm and has become one of the most watched TV series of the last few years. The new season will be aired in January 2010 so we still have a fair few months to wait. Season 6 will have 17 episodes which is the same number as season 5. It is the final season of Lost and will conclude by May 2010. The executive produces, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, are happy they finally have an end date for the show as it gives them a time frame to work within. They know they have to end the show by that date so lets them write enough to wrap up all loose ends.
Cuse said: “For us it was a huge advantage to get an end date to the show and that really allowed us to turn a corner. We knew exactly how much story we had left. It really invigorated series four and it’s been very exciting as we plan series five now.”
Unsurprisingly, not much has been said on the plot of the final season of Lost. We do know, however, that Emilie de Ravin, who plays Claire Littleton, will be back for Season 6: “Claire is a wonderful part of the show and the audience can rest assured that they will see her again on Lost,” Cuse said. “It’s just all part of Damon and my grand plan for how the story is going to be best told. And we don’t want someone to be on the show and not be serviced well. The story that we’re telling this year is going in some other directions, but we’ll circle back around to include Emilie we think in a very exciting way.”
Writers have also said that season 6 is taking the show back to its roots. They are going to focus on the original characters of the story.
In many respects it’s a sad thing to see the show come to a conclusion but from another perspective it’ll be great to watch all the question being answered. This is likely to be an action packed season of Lost and lets hope season 6 episodes will keep us watching like the previous seasons have.
