Seen it? Hated it? Loved it? Shared it? Getting rick roll’d is harmless fun but not now that seeing the face can mean that the security of your Apple iPhone has been compromised. The first Apple iPhone ‘worm’ has been caught spreading itself around Australia.
It is a self-replicating virus which infects a phone and then changes the wallpaper of the phone to that of Rick Astley. The worm is known as ikee, the avatar of the person who created it.
The worm currently only affects jail-broken iPhones, which is around 10% of all iPhones. Jailbreaking your iPhone can decrease the security of it and can lead to getting infected. Jailbreaking removes Apple’s protection and allows the user to run any software.
Experts insist the worm is currently not malicious but warn that more harmful variants could follow. The creator of the worm has released the code which leaves it open for anyone to use.
The iPhone is the most popular smart phone out there. This may lead to it being targeted and will really put to test the theory that there are less viruses on Macs.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
